Causes of the Great Depression Khalid Mohamed 500710091 DR. M. Jolly ECN 220: Evolution Of Global Economy â€Å"Analyze the causes of the Great Depression of the 1930s. Do you feel that this was caused primarily by weaknesses in the economy of the United States or by structural weaknesses in the international economy?† The Great Depression The Great Depression, was a phenomenal incident that was caused by multiple factors, it is considered one of the most tragic downfalls in American economic history. It started during the late 1929 and ended up until the late 1930’s. This economic misfortune was unanticipated and it roots began in the United States. I do believe that the Great Depression was caused primarily by the weaknesses in the United States economy since it was the main link within the international economies, its downfall affected every nation around at the time. America lacked diversity; as most of the people at the time solely depended on the few elementary industries that were around. The Great Depression was not a sudden flop, but was a chain of events that led to it; some of it being more impactful than others. This started a sequence of dilemmas for economies; the most impactful being the collapse of the stock market in 1929.
